Discovery Flight

If you are interested in learning more about the exciting world of flight, we recommend that you begin by taking a Discovery Flight with one of our instructors.  After this introductory flight lesson, we invite you to discuss the two basic flight training programs available at New Kent Aviation: The Recreational Pilot and the Private Pilot programs.  Both of these programs are on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Recreational Pilot vs. Private Pilot Programs

New Kent Aviation offers two basic flight training programs to accommodate your personal budget and/or goals.  Following is a side-by-side comparison of the Recreational and Private Pilot Certificates.  There is no minimum age to begin your flight training but you must be 16 years old to solo and 17 to obtain your certificate.  If you do not need the full capabilities of a Private Pilot Certificate, you may wish to enroll in our Recreational Pilot program.

Regardless of which program you choose, our flight instructor rates are:

  Standard:  $50.00 per hour
Block:         $45.00 per hour (with 10 hours of instruction paid in advance)

One of our experienced Flight Instructors will be happy to sit down and discuss the benefits of each program and help you determine which one is the best fit for you.
